Nourish provides in-home support and education for all breastfeeding challenges such as latch issues, sore nipples, low milk supply, oversupply, multiples, and tongue tie.

In the comfort of your home, Nourish Lactation will complete a thorough breastfeeding assessment and collaboratively create a feeding plan that helps you achieve your breastfeeding goals.

Leanne has over 24 years of experience supporting breastfeeding mothers. She is one of Calgary’s most skilled and sought-after lactation consultants having worked alongside breastfeeding physicians, speech-language pathologists, and occupational therapists in the hospital and community settings.

What Happens at a Home Consult?

 

In the comfort of your home, we arrive at a mutually agreed upon time to ensure your baby is ready to breastfeed.

We then take a detailed history & gather pertinent information related to your breastfeeding journey.

Before baby breastfeeds, we perform a pre-feed weight and a then a post-feed weight at the end of the feed with our Medela Babyweigh scale which is a highly accurate scale that calculates how much milk your baby drinks from the breast.

We observe & assess the entire feed and offer a variety of suggestions and recommendations.

All consult notes will be provided to you at the end of the consult.

An initial lactation consult is typically 1-1.5 hours in length

Follow up Consults are typically 45 minutes-1 hour in length

+ Do I have to buy a package?

No. You can purchase an initial consult for $199 and follow-ups are $170.

+ How do you support me once you leave my house?

Nourish offers complimentary phone/text/e-mail to all client’s that purchase a breastfeeding support package.

+ Is this covered by my insurance?

Great question! Because I am a Registered Nurse and Internationally Board Certified Lactation Consultant, you will be able to submit to your benefits plan. If you have an employer paid health plan, often a portion or sometimes the entire consult is reimbursed.

+ Can you help me before my baby is arrives?

Yes, I provide support for colstrum collection pre-labour and offer a breastfeeding workshop suited to educating you on your options.

+ Do you sell breast pumps?

We sell Medela Breast Pumps & products at competitive prices plus a variety of other breastfeeding products. You can also rent through our Pump-On-Demand program here.

+ I don't have health coverage and money is tight, how can we still work together?

Many Mothers in our community can not afford to buy a new breast pump. They realize that breast milk is vital to their baby’s health, growth, & development and want to provide their milk when the time is right.

Other mothers in need have sick, hospitalized infants that are unable to breastfeed. These mothers require the use of a hospital grade electric breast pump to help build and maintain their milk supplies.

Nourish Lactation Consulting will loan a gently used closed sysytem motor only that has been cleaned and disinfected to any mother in need within Calgary. Learn more about Project Angel Pump here.

+ What areas do you serve ?

We serve Calgary wide. Consults outside Calgary city limits are available for an additional $25.00 travel fee. We also offer online virtual lactation consults. Inquire when booking.

+ What forms of payment do you take?

Nourish Lactation accepts, debit, cash, cheque, e-transfer and most major credit cards. After you complete our consult inquiry form, I will get in touch to process your payment.
